Anna (Porco) Hathaway, 75, beloved wife to Richard Gary Hathaway, of Brunswick, entered into eternal rest Friday, March 25th 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Hawthorne House, with her husband lovingly at her side.

Anna was born in Belmonte Calabria, Italy Jan. 20, 1941 to Angela and Matteo Porco. She married Richard Hathaway on September 24, 1970 in Ohio, then moved to Rhode Island and finally to Maine, where they lived for 43 years. Ann worked at HealthTex, Fancy Stitchers and LLBean, before devoting herself to her family full time, at home.

Ann, as most knew her, enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas, walking, gardening and held a special place in her heart for “The King,” Elvis. Most of all, Ann enjoyed spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Ann is predeceased by sisters Nancy Bruno and Mary Porco and brothers Dominic and Nunziato Porco.

She is survived by her brothers Ernesto and Frank Porco and numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished by her children: Anna Rose (McManues) Young and husband Larry; James McManues; Richard Hathaway II and wife Natasha; and Jenni Hathaway. Admired by her grandchildren: Jennifer (Young) Wienckowski and husband David; Michelle (Young) Keleher and husband Justin; Angela Young; Cameron, Anthony and Christian Hathaway. Adored by her great-grandchildren: Courtney, Taylor and Hayden Wienckowski; Tarynn, Sidney, Evan and Elliot Keleher.

Ann will forever be remembered as a selfless, caring, strong and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmall, nana and friend. Ann was the gentlest soul, who always put her family first. The memory of her welcoming smile and giving hands will continue to remind all who loved her that they were truly blessed to have been a part of her life.

Interment to be held at Burr Cemetery in Freeport, ME at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, please support Ann’s memory by donating to the Alzheimer’s Association of Maine at 383 US Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
