After having worked beside Barbara on numerous committees, activities, etc., I now know one thing for sure - Barbara was a saint on this earth. Dedicating her life to her family and to her church was her mission. We will miss your spirit of volunteering for anything and everything, your wisdom of St. John's history but most especially we will miss your infectious laugh that started many , many tears of joy and too much fun. Rest in peace beautiful lady. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Was shocked and saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. Have know her since CYO days when my son attended. I also worked with her at the Times Record for many years and she was as dedicated to her work there as she was to the church. As all these beautiful messages attest to she was a very special person and will be deeply missed. May God grant her a place of comfort, light and peace.
P.S. Great tribute to your Aunt, Josh. She would be very moved.

Jesus told us the Great Commandment was: "love God with all your mind, all your soul, all your heart, all your strength. Then love your neighbor as much as you love yourself." Barbara did not just hear this; she lived it with every fiber of her being. We will miss her so very much, but we were blessed to have our lives touched by hers.

My dear dear friend...
I did not realize when I saw you at the hospital a few days ago, that it would be the last time I got a hug...Your Dedication to the people you loved in the Church will never be forgotten.. Your setups and clearing of the Church's decor for every season but most of all my involvement with you in RCIA..
I Love you with all of my heart...Rest in Peace

Since our childhood years when our families lived in the same house on Oak Street, through St. John's School, CYO, and beyond, Barbara has been a friend. In adulthood, she was the person we could count on seeing at mass at St. John's. With her welcoming smile and a wink of the eye to all she knew, Barbara humbly made sure everything went smoothly before, throughout and after mass. If Barbara wasn't there, her absence was noticeable and greatly missed. She has been a trusted, reassuring presence at our family's baptisms, weddings and funerals.
We will miss you, Barbara. May you rest peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus.

I like to think that I will go to heaven one day. I hope and pray that all my family and friends will go to heaven one day. But if I’m being honest, the only person I am 100% sure is making it into heaven is my Aunt Barbara. In fact, there is probably a special VIP section in heaven reserved for the few extraordinary people like Barbara.

Barbara’s life was completely and unconditionally dedicated to the service of others. Service to her family, service to her friends, service to her church, service to her employer, service to her community and service to anyone in need of a helping hand. Finding someone so fully devoted to helping others is rare in this day and age. It would be virtually impossible to find someone so special and integral to her community. If I’m being completely honest, I can’t really remember my Aunt Barbara ever doing anything for herself. Even her largest purchase, a cottage in Harpswell, was truly for the family and others to gather together and enjoy.

Aunt Barbara always spoiled all of her Nieces and Nephews with love, birthday cards, holiday cards, phone calls, gifts and of course filling lots and lots of requests for peanut butter squares. My fondest memories from my childhood will always be spending time with Aunt Barbara around the holidays and Summers at the cottage. It makes me sad to know that the next generation of Theberge children won’t get to enjoy making the same memories with Aunt Barbara but it makes me happy to know that she is 100% with Nana in heaven…in their special VIP section…smiling down on all of us right now.

Dear Josh,
Your beautifully moving post made me cry. Barbara was a wonderful aunt to all of you and a beautiful sister, daughter and human being to everyone else. She was the genuine article, her warmth was almost palpable; nothing was pretentious about her. I feel sad that I did not see enough of your Aunt Barbara, but learned at family gatherings, and at other times as well, what it was like to be around such a joyously, kind and humble spirit.

I do not know (yet) what really happens after death, still, I have been feeling her with me these past days. I know, like you if heaven exists (I hope it does) she is there and with your big heart you will someday be there too. Love and prayers to the beautiful Theberge family!

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Barbara's passing. I met Barbara back in our CYO days in St. John's Church basement and the hundreds, if not thousands of hours, we spent there getting ready for the yearly Teen Queen Pageant, folk masses on Saturday evening and countless other activities. I know she will be missed greatly by her family and her multitude of friends. Rest in peace, Barbara. God has another beautiful angel in heaven.

Oh, my! Going to church will be missing one the most important people in my memory of being at St. John’s Catholic Church...Barbara was such an integral part of attending Mass. Many times she was the “go to” person for help there, including the St. John’s Catholic School Masses.
Barbara will be missed greatly in oh so many ways!! I am honored to have known such a generous and dedicated woman.
