Derek Joseph Elliott, 25, of Brunswick died unexpectedly in his home on August 31, 2017.  Derek was born on November 5, 1991 at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick, Maine.  He went to Brunswick schools until he graduated from A.R. Gould in 2010.

Derek was outgoing and enjoyed working outside, in the most recent years he worked at Hawkes tree service & Gerald Landscaping until his most recent job change leading him to the ocean.  He was a lobsterman on board of the “KE” for Scott Merryman until his unexpected passing.

Derek’s smile was contagious &n his eyes were unforgettable, giving him one of the many different nick names “Baby Blue”.  To many he was a breath of fresh air and was a genuine person.  He was also the type who never cared what anyone thought (other than how his hair looked) & continued to do what he wanted giving him the nickname “honey badger”.

If you knew Derek you know he was fearless, especially when it came to riding his motorcycle.  He enjoyed drag racing in Oxford, popping wheelies and learning new tricks.  He also loved riding around with friends at any chance he could.  BRAAAP… BRAAAP!

Derek leaves behind his mother, Paula Elliott of Brunswick; his father, Ian Elliott of Topsham; his older brother, Danny Elliott and his wife Kaylea of Cundys Harbor along with their daughter, Aleah; his younger brother, Devin Elliott of Topsham.  Derek also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless amounts of friends who adored him.

There will be a wake open to the public to pay their condolences & say goodbyes on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Homes, 638 High Street, Bath.  A celebration of life will immediately follow at the American Legion Post 202 in Topsham (3:30 – 7pm).  Please join us in remembering our great friend and celebrating the life he lived.  Please dress casual as he would want us to celebrate his life not mourn it.
