Phippsburg – Fannie E. Wallace, 88, of Phippsburg passed away peacefully at her home on august 27, 2016 with her family by her side.  She was born in Sebasco on February 12, 1928, the daughter of Charles & Lena (Wallace)n Gomes.  Fannie grew up in Phippsburg and attend Phippsburg School.

In January 1949, she married her best friend, Merrill Wallace and the couple resided in West Point to raise their family.  Merrill & Fannie, who met at a young age, have known each other pretty much their whole lives, enjoying 67 years of marriage.

Fannie was a proud mother of 3 children.  There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.  She herself was raised with the old fashioned values and she made sure to pass those on to her children.

Fannie had a passion for cooking, and was known through out Phippsburg for her homemade goodies.  She loved to tend to her garden, growing everything she could, than making different things and canning them herself, for her family, so we always had fresh veggies in the winter.  Her mustard pickles and jam’s were always a favorite.  Fannie especially looked forward to the holidays.  She would cook for days to make everything perfect.  No one will ever be able to replace her peanut butter fudge on the Christmas table.

In the summer of 2014, her husband retired and the couple spent quality time enjoying their “Golden Years” together.  She especially looked forward to spending time with her great grandchildren.   Family meant everything to her.  She was a lady with a big heart and will be sadly missed.

Fannie was predeceased by her husband, Merrill in 2015 and an infant son, Timothy Stuart Wallace in 1955.

She leaves behind her 3 children, a son, Mitchell Wallace of West Point; 2 daughters, Diane Decker of Bath and Traci Wallace of West Point; 3 grandchildren, Chad Decker and his wife Iva of Las Vegas, NV, Jeremy and his wife Eliza Decker of NY, and Alicia Wallace of Bath; 6 great grandchildren, Korban Angwin, Brody Mcdaniel, Nico Decker, Emmerson Decker, Augustus Decker and Winslow Decker.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 4th, 2016 at 12:30pm at the Holland Cemetery, Phippsburg.
