Bath - James Benjamin Bragg, 28, died unexpectedly July 29th, 2017 at his favorite place. Ben is predeceased by his mother, Doreen Bragg of Georgetown, his paternal grandparents James and Lauretta Bragg of Chelsea and his maternal grandfather, Edward Simpson of Wiscasset. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Betty-Jane Simpson of Wiscasset, his father James Bragg and his wife Gayle of Georgetown, sister Amy and her husband Dylan Lewis of Utah, sister Melissa and her husband Corky Crocker of Dresden, sister Katy and her husband Andrew Spicer and their two children Carver and Crimson of Dresden, brother Benjamin and his wife Brooke Wright and their three children, Alyssa, Jacey and Gunnar of Texas, brother Benjamin Helinski of Biddeford and sister Amanda Helinski of Richmond. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ben swam for the Long Reach Swim Club for many years, qualifying for Nationals his junior year of high school. He was co-captain of the Morse High School swim team his senior year. His teammates nicknamed him "The Albino Rhino" and were like family to him.

In school Ben participated in MOHIBA every year, acting and building props such as a potato gun that shot confetti all over the audience. He enjoyed being the star of the show and had a presence that all but demanded your attention. He and several of his classmates were featured on MTV's MADE, and he was the commencement speaker at his 2007 high school graduation. He then went on to get his Bachelor's Degree from Thomas College.

His most recent place of employment was Thomas Point Beach where he was a manager, and he loved to fish for striper from the beach. Thomas Point Beach was Ben's happy place. He absolutely loved working and being there, and he made hundreds of friends through the many campers he met.

Benjamin's infectious smile lit up every room he entered. He had a fantastic sense of humor and he brought us all light on the darkest of days. He was the kid that everyone wanted to be around, and he loved his family and friends fiercely. To say that Ben will be missed is an understatement. We are completely heart broken.

We ask that you join us to celebrate this beautiful soul on Wednesday, August 9th. A graveside service will be held at Mountainside Cemetery in Georgetown at 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Thomas Point Beach at 5:00pm. This will be pot luck style as Ben would have wanted, and we ask that if possible you bring a dish and drinks to share. Come with stories and/or photos of Ben, as we are encouraging everyone to share their memories of him as we celebrate the brightest star in the sky. Please check events.thomaspointbeach.com for more information.

PLEASE CONTACT PAM SOLOW AT 207-389-4779 AFTER 6PM IF YOU ARE ABLE TO BRING ANY ITEMS FOR THE POT LUCK.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bath Area Family YMCA (Long Reach Swim Club) or the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
