Cape Elizabeth – Marie E. Lary, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday February 19, 2017 at The South Portland Nursing Home with her daughter Paula by her side.

   Marie was born April 23, 1930, daughter of the late Herbert and Laura (Durant) White.

   Marie grew up in West Bath Maine and graduated from Morse High School in 1948. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed knitting, reading, camping and loved spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed a good family reunion out at the Farm in West Bath.

   She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Desmond of Maine and Doris Smith of New York, a brother Leon White of New York, her daughter Paula O’Leary (Jim) of Georgia, sons, Greg Holmes (Wendy) of Florida, Gary Holmes (Gail) of California, Steve Holmes (Laurel) of Tennessee and Mark Holmes of Florida.  She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jean Dunlap (Sam) of Florida, Eileen Peaslee Mountain of Ohio, Elaine Walsh (Bill) of Maine, Colleen DiMattei (Chris) of Massachusetts, Paul Peaslee (Deb) of Maine, Bruce Peaslee (Cecelia) of Maine and Timothy Peaslee (Cheryl) of Maine. Marie was a grandmother to 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. 

   In 1992, Marie married Mahlon (Mick) Lary, who passed away December 6, 2016.  They enjoyed traveling the United States together, hiking, camping and spending many winters in Florida.

   Marie is predeceased by her former husband Paul R. Peaslee, brothers Charles White, Joseph C. White and sister Vivian McAskill all of Louisiana and stepson Brian Peaslee of South Carolina

Visitation will be held from 10-11 followed by a memorial service at 11:00am on Thursday February 23, 2017 at Desmond Funeral Home, 638 High Street in Bath Maine.
