Bath – Mary Hilda Elwell, 87, passed away on Sunday November 5, 2017 in Portland, at Maine Medical Center.  She was born in Bridgeport, Ct on February 4, 1930, the daughter of Emil J and Rose (Landry) Arsenault, and attended Connecticut schools. 

In 1956 she married Douglas L McAloney and in 1957, the couple moved to Bath, Maine.  Hilda worked for Congress Sportswear and later at Health-Tex until 1986. 

In 1989 Hilda married Richard E. Elwell, who passed away in 1996. 

Hilda was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath and the Senior Citizens Club. 

Hilda leaves behind 2 brothers, Frank P. Arsenault of Stratford, Ct and Leo T. Arsenault of Portland, Maine; a daughter, Nancy E. Melvin of Bloomington, In; and 1 grandchild, 4 step children, Mrs. Ruth Horan of Topsham, Elizabeth Brewer of Windsor, CO, Susan LaMontagne of Portland, James Elwell of Colorado Springs, CO; and 5 step grandchildren. 

Services will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath.
