Bath – Philip Wayne Robinson, 72 of Bath passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015 after a short battle with cancer at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

            He was born in Biddeford on August 16, 1943 a son of Philip and Gladys Robinson, and graduated from Morse High School in 1963. A few years after graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served his time in Thailand during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky he met and married Sherrin Ann Kaelin on February 24, 1968. They moved to Bath and were married for 35 years, until her death on March 22, 2003.

            Wayne worked at BIW for 4 years from 1968 to 1972, while serving as a call man at the Bath Fire Department. He became a full time driver/EMT in 1972 and through the years he also served as a union officer. He had received numerous certificates of merit and holds three medals for life saving rescues. After retiring from the Bath Fire Department in 1998 after 26 years of full time service, he rejoined the call force and was an active member until 2005, totaling 37 years of service. Wayne then joined Box 19, an organization dedicated to Honoring Bath Firefighters at parades and funeral services, which he was an active member until his death. After his retirement he was a driver for the Bath Bus Service.

            Wayne loved hunting, fishing, boating and spending time at beloved camp “Pokie”, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

            He is predeceased by his brother Gilbert Robinson of Phippsburg who died January 31, 2015.

            Surviving are his two sons, Craig Robinson and his wife Mary-Jean of Dresden and Scott Robinson and his wife Ashley of Alna; his sister, Patricia Mangione and her husband Rick of Boxboro, Massachusetts; his sister in law Martha Robinson of Phippsburg; his long time companion, Linda Bretton of Woolwich; five grandchildren, Eben, Savannah, Adam, Pat and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews.

            Visiting hours will be 5:00 to 7:00pm Thursday and 10:00 to 12:00am Friday at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath where funeral services will be held at noon on Friday. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Firefighter Honors and Military Honors given. Family and friends are encouraged to join a celebration of life gathering at the Bath Area Senior Citizens following the services.
