Woolwich- Richard H Carlton, 76, of Barley Neck Rd died May 3, 2016 at Mid Coast Senior Health Center in Brunswick. 

He was born on June 18, 1939 in Arrowsic, Maine a son of Howard Henry and Celia (Morse) Carlton. He grew up in Arrowsic and attended school in Arrowsic before graduating from Morse High School in 1958. 

He worked at Maine Yankee during construction, and also at Bath Iron Works for 40 plus years, medically retiring in 2009. He also operated a used car dealership in Woolwich for several years. 

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends, especially going up north with his friend Mike. He also enjoyed bowling, he travelled to Reno to bowl in the Nationals with his son, going to casinos and local fairs with family. He enjoyed looking for used cars to fix up and sell. He also enjoyed spending time on the water, fishing or going to Westport Island for dinner.

“Papa Dick” loved spending time with his grandsons, taking them to fairs throughout the state. He especially enjoyed supporting them with their athletic endeavors, especially carting their championship Little League teams in his limousine for pizza after the final game. 

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother, Vernon Carlton, and his sister, June Tardiff. 

He is survived by his son, Dale Carlton and his wife Ann of Arrowsic, his grandsons: Christopher and his wife Katie of Woolwich, Brian and his wife Beth of Woolwich, and his great-granddaughter, Chloe Carlton, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mid Coast Senior Health Center for the care they provided to Richard over the last year and a half. 

Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 6  from 2-4pm at the David E Desmond & Son Funeral Home 638 High St, Bath with a funeral service to follow at 4pm.
