SSgt Ron was a great Marine. He had a great sense of humor. I was a Corporal when I worked for Ron at Landing Force Training Unit 9, Little Creek, VA 1964 - 1966. Occasionally, Ron would hoist a case of PBR on my shoulder and we would head out to town to raise a little hell. My job was to make sure that we didn't get locked up. We never did. However, we did raise hell.

I was sad to discover that he had passed. While we didn't keep in touch after I got discharged, I often thought of him and the great times we had.

Ronald Reagan once said, “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.”

God rest your soul Ron Pelkey - you made a difference.

I knew Ron for many years. He and Betty would always say hello and had those big smiles, wherever I would see them (Bath McDonald's was one special place). He was always so upbeat and never had a harsh word for anyone. He was very proud of his military service and our country was fortunate to have had his service. I am sure he and Betty are together, again, as they should be. He was a dear man and I will always remember our chats at the office, too. Rest in peace dear friend. God will take good care of you.

Gunny was a great friend and an integral part of our golfing group. He readily volunteered to help with the Golf Tournament memorializing Dave Child a couple years ago. We'll miss him but will have him with us forever on the course and off. Rest in peace good friend.

I knew Ron and Betty from St. Mary's Church in Bath, and a small group they were in, and got to know Ron better as a member of the Knights. He was a good man, through and through. My condolences to his family
