Donald James Parent Jr.

Donald J. Parent Jr. of Bowdoin died Friday 01/11/19 at Horizons Living and Rehab Center with his loving wife of 51 years by his side after a period of declining health. Donald was born 04/26/43 in Bath to Donald and Virginia Parent.  He attend Bath schools and graduated from Morse in 1963. He was drafted into the United States Army in December of 1964 and was honorably discharged in November 1966. He married Janis M. Burgess on December 09,1967 in Hallowell.

They just celebrated their fifty first wedding anniversary. Donnie worked at BIW for 42 years, retiring in April of 2009. He enjoyed attending Silver Sneaker classes and his stroke support group. Spending time with his grandchildren and extended family brought him great joy.

He was a jack of all trades and could fix or "jury rig" most anything. Donnie and family enjoyed many summer's camping at Sebago Lake State Park. For their 25th wedding anniversary Donnie and Janis traveled to Hawaii.  They also enjoyed many summer road trips to Bar Harbor.  

Besides his wife of Bowdoin he is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Bruce) Crooker and Jennifer (Howard) Seavey and was the proud grandfather to Olivia Crooker (Oregon), Julia Crooker and Daniel Seavey; sister, Virginia (Mark) Lunn of Brunswick and sister, Elaine (Bill) Christian of Florida. 

Visiting hours will be at Desmond Funeral Home 34 Cushing St. Brunswick from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on January 19, 2019

A celebration of life and burial will take place in the summer of 2019. Donnie touched the lives of many and he will be greatly missed.
