She was a social worker by profession, employed by Herbert Lipton Center in Leominster for

years. She volunteered many hours in her role as facilitator of the Parents Anonymous Program for 28 years. Doris also worked at Planned Parenthood and the Senior Center in Fitchburg. Throughout all her years, Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Doris was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Herbert Francis Congram, Sr. in 2008, and by her infant son, Michael in 1967. She is survived by her six children: Herb Jr. and his wife Zsuzsa Congram of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Stephen Congram and his partner Kathy Powers of Worcester, MA, Ann and her husband Tony D’Alessio of Brunswick, ME, Eileen Manglass of Brunswick, ME, John and his wife Gloria Congram of Leominster, MA, Maureen and her husband Kenny Therrien of Fitchburg MA. Doris was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Leominster, MA. helping out with the Annual Bazaar, the Holiday Fair and singing in the choir. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping, along with knitting and crochet. She was a self-taught seamstress making, altering and repairing garments even into her years at Horizons.

More than anything else, she was an entertainer at heart and her passion was singing. Doris made her final home at Horizons Living and Rehab Center where she spent the last seven years of her life. She served for four years as the head of the Resident's Council, spent endless hours working and helping with projects in the Crafts Room and even delivered mail to fellow residents.

Doris provided support and encouragement to her "family" there. She took great pleasure in fundraising projects and especially enjoyed promoting and performing in her beloved Talent Shows.

Ann and her family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the Staff at Horizons especially the nurses and aids who provided warm and loving personal care.
