Edward Lawerence Wingate Sr.

Brunswick - Larry Wingate, 79, of Brunswick, Maine passed away Wednesday June 20, 2018.  Son of the late Dorthy and Edward L. Wingate survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his sister Jane Chamberlin and family; his daughter Cathy and husband, Chris Gathe; son, Edward and wife, Sherri Wingate; and daughter, Paula Wingate. His 2 step sons, Jeffery Bray and wife, Angel, and Michael Albert and wife, Tara.  7 granddaughters:  Bianca, Gabrielle, Tonia, Ashley, Brandi, Jordan and Abby.  5 grandsons:  Zachary, Spencer, Otto, Harbor and Westley.  6 great grandkids:  Tristan, Jaxon, Dominick, Scarlett, Effie, Analise, and 1 more on the way.

Larry was born in Middletown, CT in September 5, 1938 where he began career as a mechanic at Shilkies Garage.  After that first experience, he carried on his mechanic skills at Sealtest, Portland Boat Works, and hung up his professional hat from Billings Boat Yard in Deer Isle, ME, however, that did not stop him from passing on his skills to anyone who needed his help. 

Larry was a member and a Sexton of the First Congregational Church of Middletown and Portland, CT. He volunteered as a firefighter for Company 2 Fire House in Portland, CT. His interests included family, gardening, using his creative skills to construct handmade artwork, maintaining his car & home.  Larry will be remembered for making himself available with a kind word or helping hand to anyone who needed it.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00pm at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville Road, Stonington, Maine.
