Bath - Elaine Marie Bourne, 57, of Bath, Maine, passed away on August 14, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She is survived by her life partner Kenneth Darby of Bath, Maine. She was born July 30, 1961 in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Richard and Janice (Porter) Bourne of Belgrade Lakes, Maine, who survive her. She is also survived by her brother Philip and his partner LeeAnn Bauman of Spencerport, New York, her brother Kenneth and spouse Didier (Verleyen) Bourne of Rome, Maine, and her beloved Great Pyrenees “Ivy”. Nephew, Matthew, spouse Claire (Reidy) and son Jack Bourne of Rochester, New York, nephew Adam and spouse Andrea (Noto) and sons Wyatt and Austin Bourne of Rochester, New York, and nephew, Bradley and spouse Kristina (Galante) and son, Blake Bourne of Spencerport, New York, also survive her.

Elaine was a graduate of Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, New York. She received her J.D. degree from the Pittsburgh University School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

At the time of her passing, Elaine was Program Director for the Community Mediation Services Program of Volunteers of America of Northern New England (VOANNE). She was a member of the Board of Governors of the Maine Association of Mediation and was active with the Beginning Farmers Resources Leadership Network Council in Maine. Prior to joining VOANNE, Elaine worked for more than 15 years with law students as a leader in legal education administration and student services for the Hofstra University, the Washington University School of Law (St. Louis), the University of Maine School of Law, the Boston University School of Law, the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University, and the Widener University Commonwealth School of Law. She began her legal career with the Information Industry Association (Now SIIA) in Washington, DC. She worked briefly with Training and Development Corporation (TDC) in Bangor and Bucksport, Maine, and T-Mobile in Waterville, Maine.

An avid runner, Elaine ran several Beach-to-Beacon races and many other races locally and across the United States. Just before her passing she participated in the Maine Cancer Foundation “Tri for a Cure” race. She recently developed a passion for fly fishing through Casting for Recovery-Maine. She enjoyed skiing, camping, Red Sox baseball games, and exploring the coast of Maine with Ken and “Ivy”.
