Gerald Shoblock Obituary

Brunswick, ME - Gerald L. Shoblock, 67, died of lung cancer on September 7, 2019 at Midcoast Hospital.  He was bornJanuary 27, 1952 in New Brunswick, NJ and is the son of John and Teresa Shoblock.

Gerald graduated from Hightstown High School, class of 1972. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy for 22 years, during the Vietnam and Gulf wars, and he earned two National Defense Service Medals, three letters of Commendation, six Service Deployment Ribbons, four Good Conduct Awards and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

He married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Cinguegrana, on May 28, 1974. Together they have 3 children: Barbara-Ann 43 of Broadway, NC; Roxanne 42 of Brunswick, ME; and Gerald Jr 41 of Bath, ME. His hobbies included working on cars, Vintage Cars, Nascar (Dale Jarrett), watching the NFL (Washington Redskins), MLB (New York Yankees), collecting Vinyl Records, and talking.  Gerald, known as Jerry to family and friends, would talk to anyone, anytime, and about anything.  He was able to make friends everywhere he went and loved to talk about his Navy career, Rock and roll music  and concerts he had attended (including Woodstock).

He leaves behind his wife and children along with 8 grandchildren, his eldest brother Gary Shoblock of East Windsor, NJ and his 5 children, brother Richard Shoblock of New Egypt, NJ and his 3 children, and sister Clara Jean Holonics of Hamilton, NJ and her 3 children.

A service of remembrance will be held at Desmonds Funeral Home with burial at  Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 22 Mt Vernon Rd in Augusta, ME.
