Golden Eugene (Gene) Baise, Jr. of Wiscasset, Maine died on February 5, 2017 after being involved in a tragic automobile accident. He was born 28 June 1958 in Brunswick, Maine to Golden E. Baise, Sr. and Hazel L. (Brown) Baise. Gene attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1976 and then entered the United States Navy.

He attended both his basic and technical school training at Navy Station Great Lakes in Illinois and became a certified Electrician's Mate. After serving in the Navy, he was hired at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine and worked as an Electrician. After serving many hard and joyous days in the Yard, he retired in 2016.

Gene was proud to be known as one of the greatest shipbuilders in the world, plying his technical skills building Navy destroyers over his 35-year career and that he could continue serving his country building the best damn ships in the world. A pride "BIW  Shipbuilders" understood best.  Gene was well known for his electrical trade-smith within the Yard and was one of only a few true technical experts. Upon retiring from BIW, he worked as a Field Engineer for Boeing in Bath, Maine.

Gene so loved his family, friends, animals, music of all types, and was a diehard New England Patriots fan. At the time of his death, he was driving towards his daughter's house in Sabattus with his wife to spend the day watching the Super Bowl "LI" with his new grandson Wade Parker when he was involved in the tragic accident. Be it known, Gene was very fond of his entire family, especially his wife of 30-years, and would stop everything to help, but Gene had a very special bond with his granddaughter Addison, who he always called his "midget". A bond like no other and that only they could understand. He had patience of a Saint, spoiled her rotten, and never missed her dance recitals, T-Ball games, and gymnastic events. Gene so much enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and continued that very special bond until his last day.

Gene was pre-deceased by his father, Golden. His family will miss him dearly, but in their hearts believe the Patriots won that fateful day because Gene became their 12th Man.

Gene is survived by his wife Dawn Baise, who loved him so dearly and was with him at the time of his death, his mother Hazel Baise, daughters Natasha Baise of Bath and her fiancé David Lagueux, Breanne Baise of Sabattus and her fiancé Phil McGregor, Renee Sylvester, Tiffany Sylvester, his sister Teresa Moore of Bath, brother Christopher Baise of Maryland, and sister Colette Pushard and her husband George Pushard of Kentucky, his granddaughter Addison, grandson Wade Parker McGregor, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A viewing will be held Friday, 10 February 2017, at noon until 2PM and immediately followed by a Service from 2PM-2:30PM at Desmond's Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath, Maine.
