June Gilliam Obituary

Phippsburg – June E. Gilliam, 85, of Small Point, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, April 23, 2018 at HillHouse in Bath.  She was born in Phippsburg on January 29, 1933, the daughter of Raymond & Ezabella "Issy" (Wallace) McIntire.  She attended both Small Point and Bath schools.  On November 10, 1950, she married her longtime sweetheart, Merle Gilliam, and they resided in Phippsburg to raise their family.

June and Merle had 3 sons, Greg and his wife Irene of Phippsburg, Michael (who passed away in 2016) and his wife Julie, of Phippsburg and Brett and his wife Abby of Small Point.  These boys meant the world to June.  She took pride in her family and nothing pleased her more than all sitting down to a home cooked meal.  Cooking was a passion of hers, and she always looked forward to the next family gathering.  As the family grew, June had 6 grandchildren, and to her, nothing compared to spending time with them, watching them grow up and being able to share good times with them.  When she wasn’t with her family, you could always find her in her gardens, cultivating her flowers or doing needle point.   She will be missed by all those who loved her and always remembered.

June was an active member of the Small Point Baptist Church, a member of the Bodwell Grange and a member of the board of Friends of Seguin.

She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Carl McIntire, Charles McIntire and Charles McIntire and 3 sisters, Madelyn McIntire, Claire Moore and Ellen Moore

She leaves behind her husband, Merle Gilliam of Phippsburg; her 2 sons, and her grandchildren, Eric Gilliam, Denise Hurd, Connie Gilliam, Camren Gilliam, Spencer Gilliam and Victoria Gilliam; several great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 5:00pm at the Small Point Baptist Church in Phippsburg.
