Wiscasset – Kenneth H. Crabtree, 70, of 190 Lowell Town road, died on Tuesday, Dec 18, 2018 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born in Bath, on Jan 7, 1948, a son of Gerald E. Sr. & Arlene (Alley) Crabtree. He attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1966.
During his life he worked at various trades including welder, plumber, roofer, and carpenter. In 1986, he established his own business, Ken’s Painting from which he retired in 2011 due to health problems.
Ken married the former Glenice Bennett, of Bath, Feb 15, 1967. They were divorced in 1971. He later married Monique Pelletier of Lisbon Falls. They had been married 25 years when she died in November 2004. He reunited with his first wife in 2005.
He thought the world of his pet Doberman, “Charlie”, whom he lost in 1988. Until his health failed, Ken was proficient in archery competition in the state, and was an ardent hunter and fisherman. He thoroughly enjoyed working with weights for many years and liked reloading his own ammunition. He was a member of the National Rifle Assn. and the Bass Club.
Besides his parents and wife, Monique, he was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Lord in 1987 and Vivian Dulac in 2011; a step-son, Michael Cyr in 2004; and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to Glenice Bennett Ashton of Wiscasset, he leaves a brother, Gerald E. Crabtree Jr., of Woolwich; a brother-in-law, Donald Dulac of Bowdoinham; three step-grandchildren, and two step- great grandchildren; one niece and several nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring, 2019.
