Margaret S. Dulik, 84, passed away on June 30, 2017 at home in Bath, ME surrounded by her children.

She was born in Northampton, PA, the daughter of Henry M. and Katie A (Geist) Scherer.  She grew up in Catasauqua, PA and graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1951.

After graduation she worked at Shelly’s Lumber in Allentown, PA until she married Andrew F. Dulik on June 8, 1957.

She was a military wife and wonderful mother and homemaker for most of her life.  She moved often and lived in Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, Coronado, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, Monterey, CA, Ewa Beach, HI, Okinawa, Japan, Arlington, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, and then settled in Bath, ME in 1970.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and smocking.  Her passion for smocking turned into a small business called “Smocked Adorables” which focused on girl’s dresses that she sold at local craft shows.  In recent years she was an avid knitter of hats, mittens, scarves, and socks which were given to family and friends.  She also donated many of her knitted hats to infants at the MidCoast Hospital and mittens to students at the Dike-Newell School.

She was a volunteer tutor and eventual part time employee in the Bath school system.

She was also a member of the Morning Glories breakfast group at the McDonald’s in Bath where she enjoyed the company of her many friends for over 20 years.

Above all, her family and the love that she felt for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most important things in her life.  As was the love she felt from them in return.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Andrew, two brothers Albert and William Scherer, and her son Matthew.  She is survived by her brother Edward Scherer and her three children and their families: Mark Dulik and his wife Mary and their children Betsy, AJ, Kelly, and Charlie; Kathy Henrikson and her husband Kris and their children Greg, Jill, and Katie; and Karyn Belanger and her husband John.  She also has six great grandchildren; Marshall, Andrew, and Bennett Dulik; Evelyn and Vivian Lane; and Aubrey Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Hospice Care.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday July 6 from 3 to 4 followed by a memorial service from 4 to 5 at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, in Bath.
