Milton Yeaton Sr. Obituary

Phippsburg - Milton Wesley Yeaton Sr. of Phippsburg passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center March 18, 2018 at the age of 65. He was the son of the late Herbert Yeaton Sr. and Abbie Aileen Yeaton and was raised in the Nazarene faith.

Milton's childhood was an idyllic one of playing with cousins and friends around the tidal shores of West Point Village. He was industrious as a young fellow delivering prompt and courteous service to his paper route customers. As he grew up he had an ever present passion for all things Social. He excelled in basketball, was suave on the dance floor at Rosedale Barn, learned to strum the guitar with his Uncle and portrayed a believable comedic Santa for the small children at Christmas. He had a passion for hot rod cars and regularly cheered on his favorites at the Oxford Plains and Wiscasset Speedways with unbridled enthusiasm.

Beyond school Milton apprenticed in auto mechanics with Clayton Presby at Phillips 66 in Woolwich. When that rewarding experience closed he became a very respected employee at Bill Dodge Oldsmobile in Brunswick for the remainder of his working career.

When Milton was in his early twenties he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that brought about many surgeries and rehabilitation stints in Boston. Ramifications of these interventions and neurological challenges were met with admirable courage and dignity( some care providers would say Milton never missed an opportunity no matter how sick or medicated to apply his well developed quirky sense of humor to lighten up the situation).

Happily, Milton found the love of his life and married his soul mate Diana Alexander. Such deep love and understanding built a solid family foundation. Diana and Milton raised three terrific sons with these values and peals of blissful laughter emanated from the back yard games and sports in their growing up years. Whether it be the family time at Echo Lake in Fayette or frolic at his Uncle's Gaylawn Farm in Farmington, the real beauty of Milton's legacy will be his life of courage, well lived with total devotion to his family.

He is survived by his former wife Diana; sons, Victor, Christopher and children Daucen & Caden, and Milton Jr. & wife Jodi and children Lily and Sadie; sisters, Charlotte & husband Cal, Carmalene Valliere,  Dawnelle & husband Dean; brother, Herbert Jr. & wife Cheryl; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Point Nazarene Church or the Phippsburg Volunteer Fire Dept.

A memorial service will be planned as well as interment at Morningside cemetery in the spring.
A forthcoming Celebration Of Life is being planned and will be announced
