Mr. Sidney "Bill" Skinner, Jr. 89 of Helena, MS, passed away October 19, 2017 in Moss Point, MS.
He was born July 31, 1928 to Sidney and Evelyn McVey Skinner in Biloxi, Ms. His father was a commercial fisherman most of his life and his mother also worked in the seafood industry.
Bill attended school in Biloxi and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1946-1947.
In 1948 he married Erline Seymour of Ocean Springs. Together they raised four children in Ocean Springs. In 1992 he retired as a Joiner and Superintendent after 38 years with Hopeman Brothers, Inc. During his career, he worked at all the major shipyards in the United States.
During his retirement, he enjoyed helping others with their projects, gardening, working with his hands, fishing, traveling and visiting family. He had many friends in Maine, where he had lived for over 20 years.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his former wife, Erline Seymour Skinner Guthrie, Folsom, LA,
his children, Donald Skinner (Rhonda), Helena, MS, Terry Skinner (Patricia), Biloxi, MS, Sharon Skinner Baham (Lloyd), Folsom, LA, and Chris Skinner of LA. His Sister, Evelyn Skinner Hill, Ocean Springs, MS, niece, Marcia Hill Pevey, Biloxi, MS. 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Rhonda Skinner for her love and attention, Clara Sanford and the staff at Clara's Personal Care Home for the wonderful care given to Mr. Skinner.
