Sierra Whitney Thibeault

Sierra Whitney Thibeault age 30, passed suddenly on October 27,2018 in Topsham, Maine. Sierra was born in Wiscasset, Maine on May 25, 1988. She was the daughter of Stephen J.Thibeault of Brunswick, Maine and Joane K. Lloyd of Topsham, Maine.

Sierra attended Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine where she worked hard and thrived in sports and her education.Sierra enjoyed playing field hockey, was a strong swimmer and even stronger softball player. She alternated first base and catcher positions with her strong, fast and accurate throws resulting in many double plays. When up to bat, she consistently hit doubles to home runs. Sierra was a passionate team player and a strong leader in sports. She was active in community service and enjoyed helping people.Sierra loved animals,especially her cats. Sierra enjoyed riding horses and competing in shows locally. She was an avid reader at a very early age, and found it difficult to put a book down before finishing it. Sierra travelled with People to People International, touring in Europe and Australia as a student ambassador.

During her school years, Sierra made friends easily. She had an enduring smile, an infectious laugh, lots of energy, was quick witted and fluent in sarcasm.She was always on the go and up for anything. Sierra's friends relied on her strong personality, independence, willingness to make decisions and director-like attitude for any activity or project, showing leadership skills early on. Sierra was never without a plan and was a problem solver by nature. She easily offered guidance and support to those who needed it. Sierra did not mince words with diplomacy. Sierra had many  friends, family and business associates who counted on her. She was a beloved daughter, sister and friend.   

At New England College, Sierra graduated in 2009 with her Bachelors in Business. She used her keen business skills and began running Thibeault Tax and Accounting Services in July 2010 due to the unexpected death of her father, Steve Thibeault aka Dozer, which she loved deeply. The business continued to flourish under Sierra's leadership and perseverance. 

Sierra was also a beloved member of the Brunswick Golf Club, where she won multiple golf tournaments. Most recently she won the club's, "Fall Classic" and finished second with her team in their "Sadie Hawkins" tournament. Sierra was an active part of the annual, "Golf and Wine" ladies league, becoming one of the first winners of the "Golf and Wine" Cup. Sierra sponsored and coached a slow pitch softball team in Brunswick, for many years. She recently took an assistant coach position, with Bath Middle School softball. Sierra was a well known and active member in Brunswick and many surrounding communities.

Sierra is survived by her mother Joane Lloyd of Topsham, her stepfather Bob Wade, a sister Madelyn Wade and a brother Benjamin Wade, all of Topsham. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother Carol Thibeault of Brunswick, many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family including her 3 cats, Flame, Jazz, and Coco. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Glennis Lloyd of Harpwell, her paternal grandfather Emile Thibeault  and her father Stephen J. Thibeault both of Brunswick. 

Sierra's visiting hours and Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 4th, at David E, Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10th, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,132 McKeen Street, Brunswick.
