Adelina Herrera Juntura

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Adelina H. Juntura, who peacefully passed away at her home in Bath, Maine on March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 12, 1945, in the Philippines.

From an early age, Adelina demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience. As a child in the Philippines, she contracted polio when it was at its peak worldwide but defied the odds with her determination and will to live. Later in life, she faced another series of difficult health battles, enduring one cancer after another in her adult years with the same courage and determination that defined her life, surprising many clinicians who cared for her throughout the years.

As one of the eldest of eleven children, Adelina took on great responsibility at a young age. After the loss of her mother, she helped raise her three youngest siblings while also balancing school and helping earn food for the family. Despite these challenges, she pursued her education and graduated from college with a degree in midwifery. She went on to help deliver many babies in the Philippines, including several of her own nieces and nephews.

Family was always at the center of Adelinas life. Though she never had children of her own, she lovingly helped raise many of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Even when she had little, she always found a way to give and make sure her family was cared for.

In her early forties, she immigrated to the United States in search of opportunity and a better future. Through hard work and determination, she fulfilled another dreamowning her own restaurant business. Even after retirement, her passion for cooking and helping others continued as she often spent time assisting family in their restaurants.

Adelina had a deep love for cooking her native Filipino food for her family and friends. Her meals brought people together and were always made with care and generosity. Many will say it will be nearly impossible to replicate the way she cookedbecause the most important ingredient she used was love.

She also cherished lifes simple joys. During the warm Maine summers, you could often find her on a dock with family, fishing for mackerel and striped bass or squiddingmoments that brought her great happiness and connection with those she loved.

Adelina will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her life was a testament to perseverance, sacrifice, and love.

She leaves behind a large and loving family of siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who will forever cherish the memories and lessons she shared.

Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, both through the children she helped bring into the world and the family she helped raise.
