Beverly Ouellette Obituary

BRUNSWICK-  Beverly A. Ouellette, 81, of Brunswick passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, at Maine Medical Center 1/16/2019.

Beverly was born on 6/26/37 in Cohasset, MA to Bernard A. & Thelma (Littlefield) Knight and grew up in Bath, ME.  The summers she spent at their family property in Ocean Point, and at her grandfather’s store in Lincolnville Center (Knights General Store) were some of her most treasured childhood memories.  She graduated from Morse High School and was an enthusiastic alumnus of the class of 1955.

Beverly married Norman A. Sanford (deceased) of West Bath in 1953 and together they had two sons and a daughter.  They were among the first to build a home on New Meadows Road in West Bath, and she was proud of the fact she planted some of the tall pine trees that stand there today.

In 1967 Beverly moved to Brunswick and married Donald (Pete) A. Ouellette who owned the store Days News and Variety.  Together they had three daughters and a son.

Beverly could often be seen behind the counter at “Day’s News” helping run the store while her children were in school. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their property at Woodward Point (“The Camp”) on the New Meadows River, swimming in the ocean, going for boat rides and having cookouts.

In addition to being a caretaker, waitress, animal lover and avid gardener, Beverly spent many hours over the years volunteering with Midcoast Credit Union in Brunswick. She enjoyed the companionship of Roy Neilson of Kings Point Road, West Bath, for many years.

She cherished her friendships, many spanning 60+ years.  She had a gift for remembering the smallest details about a person and her sense of humor will be missed by many.

In her later years Beverly loved spending quality time with her adult children going on long scenic drives, searching for sea glass, and enjoying her favorite restaurants.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister Janice B. Knight of Bath, husband Donald A. (Pete) Ouellette, companion Roy Neilson, identical twin daughter Nancy, son Gregory D. Sanford and son Gerald W. Sanford.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four surviving children; son Dean Ouellette of Brunswick,  daughters Pamela (Antoine) Bois of Topsham, Lisa Ouellette of Edgecomb and Donna Austin of Brunswick.  She is also survived by 6 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 3 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.

For those wishing to make a donation in her memory, Beverly was very fond of these non-profit organizations in Brunswick:  People’s Plus, 35 Union Street, and Midcoast Humane Animal Shelter, 30 Range Road, 04011.

Beverly’s family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Bath for their care over the years.  She deeply valued the friendships made with the care team and fellow dialysis patients.

Beverly lived a short distance from the Town Mall in Brunswick for over 50 years.  She would endeavor to have a Danny’s-On-The-Mall hot dog every day they were open. Her family encourages those who knew her to go enjoy a “Danny’s Dog” in her memory this spring/summer.
