Bath – Cora E. Arsenault, 89 passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019 at Winship Green Center, where she made her home for the past year.
She was born in Newton, MA, December 11, 1929 a daughter of Phillip and Sarah Strickland Simms. She grew up in Wesley, MA and graduated from Wesley High School in 1947.
On October 30, 1948 she married John J. Arsenault and the couple moved to Bath to raise their family.
Cora held many jobs in her lifetime including Jay Brush, Congress Sportswear, retiring from Hyde School after 24 years of service.
She was a free spirit that loved to travel. Florida was one of her favorite spots. Collecting shells on Sanibel Island was a passion of hers. If she wasn’t at the beach she would be found camping with her son and daughter in law at Moosehead Lake. Cora loved the outdoors, but on rainy days you could find her curled up with a good book. She loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren was something she looked forward to. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her husband, John J. Arsenault Jr.; a daughter, Linda Larson; grandson, Joshua Barth and granddaughter, Shannon Barth
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Lowery of Bath; two sons, John Arsenault Jr. of Haynesville and Mark Arsenault and his wife Paula of Bath; three grandchildren, Daniel Barth of Richmond Shaun Barth of MN and Ryan Lowery and his wife Amy of Dresden; two great grandchildren, Oceanna Chamberlain and Madison Barth; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1pm Friday, Aug 9th at Oak Grove Cemetery. Entrance to the cemetery is off Old Brunswick Rd.
