TOPSHAM - Neil Walsh was born and raised in the Bronx. His favorite memories as a child were going to Yankee Stadium with his grandmother to watch Mickey Mantle.
He joined the Navy at 18 and was stationed in Brunswick, where he met Donna Viel, his wife and best friend of 52 years. Together, they raised a family in Topsham, as Neil built a 40-year career at B.I.W.
He loved playing sports, especially football, softball and golf. He loved music and dancing. Whether he was playing games, coaching baseball or helping with homework, Neil was devoted to his family. He was kind and caring.
Neil passed away at home after a battle with Alzheimer's.
The world was a better place with him in it.
Neil is survived by his wife Donna of Topsham; his son, Jamie Walsh and his wife Katisha Walsh of Portland; his daughter, Megan Gurney and her husband Ryan Gurney of Topsham; five grandchildren, Ashton, Neila and Johnny Walsh of Portland, and Alexa and Ty Gurney of Topsham; and his beloved pets, Lily, Keegan and Bronx.
