Dorothy Esther (Roderick) Vachon passed away on May 14, 2026 at her home. She was born at home in Woolwich “on the bluff” on March 7, 1951, and raised the middle of seven children of the late Vernon Roderick and Dorothy (Shorey) Roderick.
Dottie graduated from Morse High in 1969, and always led a happy and productive life. As a child she enjoyed skating, dolls, and playing on the shores of the Kennebec. Her work started as teenager stitching children’s clothes at Health Tex, then to Liberty Mutual insurance in clerical, and on to a successful 37-career at Bath Iron Works retiring as a Senior Tech Planner in 2016.
At an early age Dottie enjoyed dancing, music, and was an avid snowmobiler riding trails throughout Maine. She enjoyed The Beatles, blue jeans, boating, hiking, gardening, and her pets. For the past years, she and her husband Ron shared great adventures renovating and building homes, traveling to countless places, and spending time on the water. Dottie also loved her ever-expanding flower gardens. She was happy visiting museums, Broadway shows, sporting events, botanical gardens, parks and historic places, yet she was also very happy and easy to be around just relaxing by the fire pit, mackerel fishing, or the neighborhood beach enjoying friends. Her contagious laugh would light up the room and people would always gravitate to her.
Dottie was a giver, from taking care of aging or sick family members, to volunteering to deliver Meals on Wheels, she was there. If you knew Dottie, you loved Dottie. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by family and friends.
