Ira Middleton Pinkham, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on September 14 th , 2024. He was born to Ronald W. Pinkham and Diane M. O’Leary on March 30, 1973, in Bath, Maine. As a kid Ira spent his summers hauling lobster traps from his skiff. When he wasn’t on the ocean, he was running the Five Islands Dock or riding his bike with his best friend Dale. His love for the ocean and lobstering never waivered following in his father’s footsteps he bought his first boat F/V Goin Grey in 1998 and started what would be a lifelong career lobstering. Ira loved being offshore specifically, Cashes Ledge.
When on land Ira was always with his family, whether it was his kids’ sporting events, a horse show (with all his favorite girls), skiing, Sunday dinner at Ubba and Dida’s or a family vacation. He instilled his love for hunting and fishing into all three of his children. He looked forward to hunting with them every season. If he wasn’t with his family, you could always count on finding him sitting on the dock hill with his dad or riding around the island with Bryan or making a quick stop at the Chill Zone with Dale.
Ira was full of spice, salt, laughter and love. He would throw you the bird as easily as sit and have a heartfelt conversation. He loved his family, friends and community and they all knew they could count on him for a laugh or someone in a time of need to sit and listen. Let’s not forget his random off the wall facts that we would all look at him and say “Really Ira” … only to find out that they were true. Fairwinds and following seas Ira.
Ira is survived by his children Wyatt, Henry and Anna Pinkham from Georgetown, mother of his children Stephenie, from Georgetown, father Ronald Pinkham of Georgetown, sister Whitney Cole from Georgetown, nephew Ted Cole and his partner Amy True from Freedom, New Hampshire, niece Macy Cole from Bath, sister Jessica Pinkham and her partner William Sherburne from Boothbay, niece Shaw Pinkham from Damariscotta, niece Katherine Moore from Damariscotta, nephew Miles Norris from Georgetown, niece Elizabeth Norris from Georgetown, and many cousins and best friends Dale Savoie, Bryan Kelley and Donald Simmons.
