James Kenney Obituary

James Edward Kenney, age 60 , passed away on December 11th , 2024 at home with his wife by his side. He had asked her early on to sing "Soft kitty, warm kitty", if he was ever not feeling well. He may have been joking, but she sang it to him, just in case. Jim was born in Brunswick, August 24th, 1964 to Norman and Virginia Kenney. He attended Bath schools, including Morse High school. He married Ellee Lowell Kenney on August 29th, 2015, according to Jim to "get her off the market". Jim worked as a cook for many years. The last restaurant being Southgate in Bath. He told his wife once that he did the math and that he had probably cracked over a million eggs in his lifetime. At one point his doctor suggested that he eat one egg every day. Jim told the doctor that he would try but the shells get stuck in his teeth. Jim is survived by his wife of 9 years, Ellee Lowell Kenney, his father, Norman Kenney ,his siblings Darlene, Cathy, Bonnie, Marc, Lisa and Michelle, his children Jimmy, Ryan, Taylor, Alexandra and Jasmine, and his step daughters, Rory and Whitney. Also many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Kenney and his brothers, Steve Kenney and Stan Baker. Jim loved life and never needed much to make him happy, a warm fire pit, a golf cart ride to the river, camping at Meadowbrook, watching Jeopardy with a cat in his lap, dancing and singing his favorite song, " Play That Funky Music, White Boy" while cooking Sunday breakfast for his wife. He enjoyed sipping on a White Russian or two and some Fireball. He also liked pretty much anything with a motor that went fast. After his restaurant career, he enjoyed working with his friend Joe doing landscaping at AM/PM Property Management. He liked to call himself the vice president since at the time there was just the two of them and Joe was the president. Last but not least he loved his job at Rogers/Rocky's Hardware in Bath, where he proudly held the title of assistant manager. He loved his customers and his fellow employees. His customers weren't just customers,  they were his friends from grade school on up, his former teachers, his relatives. His Dad, Norm, undoubtedly was his favorite, always needing Jim to walk through the store with him to get everything that he needed for his latest project. That's what Jim did, for everyone. In remembrance of Jim, have a sip of something, it doesn't have to be Fireball, and the next time you go out to eat and the waitress asks if you want a box,  be like Jim and say, " Sure, but I'd rather wrestle". "Walk it like you own it ". Jim did. His family would like to thank the dedicated staff at MCC and also all of our friends and relatives who have been there from the beginning to help with anything and everything that we needed. There will be a graveside service in the Spring.
