Phippsburg - Lawrence D. Pye passed away at his home in Phippsburg on July 21st 2025. Larry was a lifelong resident of Phippsburg born on April 4th 1947 to Alice D. and Clifford Pye.
He married Sandra Walton on June 25th 1977. He met Sandra when his mother brought her home for dinner from where they both worked at Phippsburg elementary school. Larry and Sandra most recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary together.
Larry was a commercial lobsterman. He came from a long line of commercial fisherman, engaging in dragging, lobstering and tuna fishing. He pulled his first trap when he was 9 with his mother rowing the boat. Both of his sons continued the tradition with his oldest John serving as a sternman for his father and then his son Lawrence taking over the F/V Three Rascals that Larry originally had built in 1988 and named after his three children. He was at home on the water and finally retired in 2025 at 76 due to declining physical abilities and selling his lobster boat the F/V John Clifford name in memory of his son John.
In retirement he and Sandra enjoyed spending time with their friends Teddy and Sandy Gerow. Sandra and Larry had 3 children, Susan Pye (and partner Bill); Lawrence R. (And spouse (Jamie) and John Clifford who predeceased him. Larry was also predeceased by his sister Glenis.
Most recently he found great entertainment in his grandchildren, Lucien (5) and Maisy (2). In addition to his wife and children he is survived by his brother in-law David Spencer and cousins Philip, Gary and Maurice Pye. He will be missed.
A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Small Point Baptist Church, Phippsburg. Burial will be private.
