Brunswick – Leon P. Labbe peacefully passed at Brentwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Yarmouth, Maine. The staff and residents had become an integral part of his life over the last four years. His family will forever be grateful for his care and the friendships he developed.
As the youngest of seven children, Leon grew up on the family’s small dairy farm in Brunswick. He is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Madelaine Labbe as well as his oldest brother, Richard. The Saint John’s community, now All Saints Parish, was always a part of his family life, schooling and French heritage.
Leon loved woodworking, gardening and holidays. Halloween was one of his favorites and he crafted many creatures for various yard displays. His playful sense of humor brought laughter to many. Family gatherings, playing cards and bingo were also things he cherished. During his stay at Brentwood, Leon spent many hours creating colored pencil drawings for those he loved.
Surviving are his siblings: Louise (Glenn) Patterson of Fallbrook, CA; Ann Wilson of Topsham; Claire Wallace of Brunswick; Noel (Nancy) Labbe of Brunswick; Louis “Joe” (Dale) Labbe of Webster, FL; and his wife, Leia Day Labbe of Lisbon. Leon also had many nieces, nephews and cousins who will mourn his passing.
A private burial will be held for the family. In Leon’s memory find the joy in life, laugh often and spread kindness.
