Margaret Darling Obituary

Bath – Margaret J. Darling, A Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away at Winship Green Nursing facility in Bath, Maine on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the age of 89.  She was born on March 2, 1935 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Sabatino & Michelina (D’Andrea) Panetti.   She graduated from Westbrook High School, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and continued her education at Westbrook College.  In 1956 she married her soul mate, Robert Darling and together they made their home in Cumberland.

Marge worked for Drummond, Woodson, Plimpton & McMahon as a legal secretary for about 30 years until her retirement to enjoy her favorite pastime….. GOLF!  She played golf for many years at Val Halla Golf Club in Cumberland, Maine which her husband Robert and 5 of his friends completed in 1963.  She and Tracy traveled many years from Maine down to the Carolina’s to visit grandson Michael and his family, and to Florida to visit her son Rick and Grandson David and their families.   

Marge loved to play the piano and had the singing voice of an angel.  She always looked forward to family time at holidays. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Darling Sr. in 2007.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Jr. (Diane), Tracy (Dave), Richard (Debbie);  5 grandchildren, David, Michael, Robert, Kimberly and Shana; 12 great grandchildren

Celebration of Life will be held at a later time to be announced in the spring 2025.
