BATH -- Margaret Q. Wagstaff, 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hill House in Bath on Aug. 4, 2010. She was born in Wiscasset on Nov. 22, 1912, the third of five children of Harry Quinnam and Vinnie Smith Quinnam. She was named for her paternal grandmother, Margaret Albee, and was the namesake of her granddaughter, Margaret Eismeier. Known to her friends as ''Midge,'' she graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1929. She married Robert E. Maass Jr. in 1932, and they built a house on the Barley Neck Road in Woolwich in 1938. Midge was an active member of the Nequasset Mothers Club, and the Nequasset Farm Bureau. She worked part-time at Elwell''s Greenhouse. Margaret married H. Paul Wagstaff in 1950. They made their home in Damariscotta from 1954-2005, and were avid high school sports fans, following their young relatives from town to town with Aunt Margaret''s home-baked cookies. Margaret loved playing Scrabble, boating on Damariscotta Lake, and having company. She was a life-long Episcopalian, a member of St. Philip''s Church in Wiscasset and St. Andrew''s Church in Newcastle. Margaret was keenly interested in all family matters. For many years, she was the oldest attendee at the annual Quinnam Family Reunion in Freeport. She was predeceased by her brothers, Cleveland Quinnam and Bradford Quinnam, her sisters, Lucille Shea and Phyllis Lewis; and her husband, Paul Wagstaff. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Maass Lewis of Woolwich; her grandchildren, Paul Rosenblum of Cumberland, Jill Rosenblum of Portland, and Lee Rosenblum of South Portland; her great-grandchildren, Margaret Eismeier, Jack Rosenblum, and Betsy Rosenblum; many beloved nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. The family wishes to thank Hill House of Bath for their caring staff who truly gave Margaret a loving home in the final years of her life. In accordance with Margaret''s long-time wishes, there will be no public services. She will be interred by her family at the Quinnam lot in the Wiscasset Greenlawn Cemetery sometime in the fall.
