Patricia Grant Obituary

Wiscasset - Patricia Teresa Grant, 93, of Wiscasset, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Langdon Place of Dover in Dover, NH, after suffering for several years from cardiac-related health issues. She was born on May 31, 1932, in Jackman, ME, the daughter of Ralph Gagnon, Sr., and Lucille (Poulin) Gagnon. Pat was raised in a large French-Canadian family, with her early years being spent in Jackman. When her father began work with United Engineers, the family moved to Wiscasset, and later to Biddeford, and several other locations, including Vermont and Connecticut. Pat graduated from Willimantic High School in Willimantic, CT, in 1950.

On September 28, 1957, she married Edward A. Grant, of Wiscasset. They spent eight years in Danbury, CT, before returning to Maine in 1964. Over the years, Pat worked for Connecticut Light and Power Company, St. Andrews Hospital, United Engineers, Fairfield State Hospital, W.T. Grants department store in Brunswick, and later the state of Maines Motor Vehicle Division in Augusta, where she retired in 1995. She was an active parishioner of St. Marys Roman Catholic Church in Bath.

Pat loved to laugh. She was very close with her large, extended family, often having get-togethers and playing card games. She was dearly loved by them and everyone else who knew her. Family was very important to her. She had a strong devotion to her family and loved them all very much. She loved to bake and made the best chocolate chip cookies around. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and especially reading.

Pat was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Edward A. Grant; her parents; sisters Simone Gilbert, Lillian Colby, and Janet Steeves; and by brother Allen Gagnon. She is survived by daughters Karen A. Grant of Portland and Maureen P. May and her husband Dennis of Dover, NH; one son, William E. Grant and his wife Theresa of Kent City, MI; four grandchildren, Kirsten May Kilroy and her husband Jacob of Rollinsford, NH; Patrick May of Dover, NH; Bridget Grant and her husband Ben Coutilish of Rochester Hills, MI; and Megan Grant of Kent City, MI; sisters Isabelle Lewis of Boothbay Harbor and Cheryl Squiers and her husband Stephen of Gorham; by brothers Ralph (Bud) Gagnon, Jr., of Woolwich and James Gagnon of Newnan, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank both the Gorham House in Gorham, ME, and the Langdon Place of Dover, in Dover, NH, for the wonderful care Pat received over the past 5 years.
