Richard "Dick" Lamarre

Brunswick - Richard “Dick” Lamarre, 89, lifetime resident of Brunswick, Maine passed away on 2 Feb 2022 at his home at McLellan House, Cumberland Street, Brunswick.  He was born in Brunswick on 24 February, 1933, the son of Edward Lamarre & Alice Tremblay.  He was a graduate of St John’s Catholic School and immediately began working at Cabot Mill.  He later enlisted in the Marine Corps and served honorably from 1952 – 1955, much of it aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea.

He returned to Brunswick and married the love of his life, Constance Gaudreau, on June 9, 1956.  They were happily married 60 years.  Dick worked on the Brunswick Naval Air Station security force and then later joined the postal service as a letter carrier, retiring after 28 years of service.  He later established a local painting business serving the Brunswick area.  While working to support his family, Dick was also very active in his church and community.  He was a Knight of Columbus and volunteered countless hours in support of St John the Baptist Parish and School, organizing parish dances in the 70’s and 80’s, a member of the St John’s Bazaar Committee setting up, cleaning up and operating booths and began and operated a longtime church fundraiser…the Century Club.  He was a friend to many, vastly generous with his time and industry in support of his family, church and community.

Dick leaves behind 2 children, Ann Armstrong, 63 of Sacramento, CA and Richard Lamarre, 56, of Gold Canyon, AZ;  5 grandchildren, Christa, Joshua, Richard, Shawn, and Alissa; and 3 great grandchildren, Charles, Kobe and Jason.

A graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick in the spring.
