"Robert Ireland Jr. - April 23, 1943 – May 24, 2026
Robert Ireland Jr., 83, of Georgetown, Maine, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026 in his seaside home. Born on April 23, 1943, Robert lived a life defined by adventure, curiosity, craftsmanship, and a love of community.
Bob built a distinguished career in engineering and manufacturing, bringing to his work the same passion for problem-solving that he developed as a young boy. Whether faced with a complex technical challenge on the job or the same at home, Bob was happiest when there was an interesting engineering solution to work through.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was a man of wide-ranging talents and hobbies. He lent his voice and energy to several chorus and barbershop groups over the years, sharing his love of music with his community. He was a dedicated volunteer with The Virginia, Maine's First Ship, contributing his skills to the preservation of this historic ship. An avid skier, he embraced the mountains with the same energy he brought to all of his pursuits.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Ireland, and his brother, Jerry. He is survived by his sister, Betty; his sons, Mark and Jon; his stepson, Shawn; his stepdaughter, Kristin; and his four grandchildren, Ashley, Shelby, Samuel, and Maxwell — who will carry his spirit of curiosity and love of a good challenge forward. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Oreo.
Robert Ireland Jr. was a builder, a singer, a problem-solver, and a devoted family man. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."
