Robert Alan McIntyre, of Woolwich, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, April 27th, at Togus VA Medical Center. Born in Ohio on November 10th, 1947, he was the son of Kenneth and Opal McIntyre.
He grew up in West Virginia and attended Tyler County High School. Robert served in the U.S Navy for 23 years and spent 21 years at BAE Systems SUPSHIP in Bath, Maine.
Bob had a passion for travel. His military service took him to Italy, and his love for exploration continued throughout his life. Whether it was gold mining in the waters of Maine, riding his side-by-side along back trails, or playing drums in his home music studio, Bob was always seeking new adventures. Known for his sharp wit and intelligence, he would often sprinkle a bit of irony into conversations to make others think and then laugh.
In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed fishing, hiking, and camping, instilling his love for the outdoors and travel in his children. He was a caring soul who cherished his family, friends, and neighbors, treating them as his own.
Bob was predeceased by his soulmate and best friend, Donna McIntyre. He is survived by his children Kenneth McIntyre and wife Colleen Hudson of Five Islands, ME, Amber and husband Drew Tagliavini of West Hartford, CT, Christine and husband John Meisel of Manchester, NH, and Steven and wife Molly Walsh of Manchester, NH, along with 6 grandchildren: Mara McIntyre, Walter Hudson, Wyatt Hudson of Five Islands, Maine, Bryson Tagliavini, and Lillian Tagliavini of West Hartford, CT, and Trevor Walsh of Manchester, NH.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 3:00-4:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 pm at Dave E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street Bath, Maine.
