Robert Isidore Pelletier, 94, of Chesapeake, VA formerly of Bath, passed away at his residence in VA on July 5, 2019. Robert was born in Salem, MA, on Feb 25, 1925, the son of Joseph E & Rose Diana (LeBoeuf) Pelletier. He graduated from Salem High School, class of 1943. After high school, Robert joined the United States Army Air Corps and proudly served his country from 1943 – 1945.
Robert married his true love, Evelyn, on July 20, 1947 and the couple resided in Salem, MA to raise their family. Robert and his wife moved to several places in their lifetime; Beverly, Massachusetts then moved to West Virginia in 1955, to Sanford, Maine in 1957, to Danbury, CT in 1972 and to Brunswick, Maine in January 2006.
After graduating from Boston University in 1953, Robert worked as a Chemist at Mobay Chemical Co, Plant Manager at WASCO and American Cyanamid in Sanford, Maine and an FDA Liaison at Davis & Geck in Danbury, CT.
He was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Sanford JC's and in his earlier years was a Boy Scout Leader, something he did with great pride. He also taught CCD classes at St. Ignatius School in Sanford, ME.
He is predeceased by his parents and his wife Evelyn M. on Jan 25, 2006.
He leaves behind sons, Mark and Robin Pelletier of Palm Coast, FL, Joel and Cheryl Pelletier of Torrington, CT, David and Darla Pelletier of Fort Ann, NY; a daughter, Diane and Phil Thrash of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Jane Pelletier of Belgrade, ME, Jonathan Pelletier of Spring City, PA, Kelsey Noel Thrash of Chesapeake, VA, Jason, Mike and Jennifer Pelletier of Fort Ann, NY, Eric, Crystal and Joseph Pelletier of Torrington, Ct; great grandchildren, Oliver and Olivia Pelletier of Fort Ann, NY, Zoe Pelletier of Spring City, PA and Mira Pelletier of Fort Ann, NY.
A private family service was held at Desmond Funeral Home in Bath, ME on July 11th with the interment following at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath, ME. Jane Pelletier honored Robert with the playing of taps at which time the military guard folded the flag and presented it to the eldest son, Mark Pelletier.
