Ruth Ann Martin Wallace 76, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at Brentwood on August 8, 2024, after a long battle with dementia.
She was born March 24, 1948 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.
The daughter of Richard and Vera (Brundage) Martin.
Ruth graduated from Yorktown High Shcool, N.Y in 1966.
Ruth moved to Maine that summer to get married. She lived with her Wallace family at West Point, where she enjoyed the ocean and singing and playing guitar with family members.
She loved spending time at Head Beach in Small Point where she came with her parents every summer. She continued the tradition by taking her children to that beach in their childhood. She recently had talked about the beach a lot.
Ruth lived in many areas growing up, as her Dad worked for the Railroad. Some being, Colorado, Washington and Wyoming where she had fond memories of the Cheyenne Frontier Days. Finally settling for the rest of her childhood in Yorktown heights and some surrounding towns.
While raising her children she lived in Bath. Working as a CNA and home Healthcare provider, she worked at Shaws in Brunswick, sold Amway, Mary Kay and Tupperware.
She was an amazing mother and was known for decorating cakes, baking, sewing and later became an amazing artist, learning how to paint by watching Bob Ross. At any time Ruth could be singing and dancing around the room.
She was known for her beautiful smile, whitty humor, huge heart and showed much Compassion for others. Raising her children and her Grandson were her biggest achievements in life.
Later Ruth moved in 1995, with her Grandson whom she rasied to Albuquerque, N.M.,
to be near her father and step mother. She loved the Balloon festivals and talked of her and her sister Ann going up in a balloon again. Ruth donated Crocheted hats, mittens and scarves and much time to the Veterans and homeless people there. Her passion became working with Animal Human to trap, neuter/spay stray cats.
In 2019 after being diagnosed with dementia she moved back to Maine so her children could help care for her.
Ruth leaves behind her loving children, Joanne Wallace Rodney of Harpswell, Kendall Wallace Jr of Phippsburg and her grandson whom she raised Jacob Wallace of Albuquerque.
Her brother Rich (Irene) Martin of VA.
She also leaves behind 7 other grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and her very special friend Wayne Garceau of Bath.
