Theresa Leda (Karkos) Bernier

Theresa L. Bernier (nee Karkos), of 99 Admiral Fitch Avenue in Brunswick, ME, died on June 19, 2025.  She was born in Brunswick on June 29, 1941, daughter of Paul and Cecile Karkos.  She was a student at St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1959.  She married Ralph L. Bernier, also of Brunswick, on June 27, 1959; she was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.

Theresa started working in the Admissions Office at Bowdoin College in 1963, and then moved to the Financial Aid Office until retiring after forty-one years of service.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, and her grandson, Garrett Lee Remington.  She is survived by her son, Ronald R. Bernier of Boston, MA, her daughter, Linda A. (Bernier) Remington, and her granddaughter, Amy Lynn Remington, both of Oklahoma City, OK.

At her request, there will be no visiting hours or church service.  A small, private remembrance service will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, as Theresa is laid to rest alongside her husband.
