Bath - Verna Lagasse, Age 83, of Hill House Assisted Living; Bath, Me passed away 4/10/23 with her family by her side. She was born in Machias, daughter of Paul A. and Christine M. (Reynolds) Watts. She was a graduate of Morse High School class of 1958 and was a long time Alumni Assoc. member. During her high school tenure, she served in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls where she achieved the highest position in the organization. On April 21st, 1959 she married Richard E. Lagasse, whereupon they spent the next 24 years traveling to Richard’s military duty stations. After retirement from military life, Verna spent 20 years at Coastal Savings Bank as the Senior Teller at Cooks Corner. After bank retirement she volunteered at MidCoast Hospital where she flourished. She was in her element of making people feel comfortable and really loved her volunteer work.
Verna cherished her lifelong friendships that she made throughout her travels and work. Above all else in the world, she loved her family which included many fur babies.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard , of Topsham, two daughters Debbie Williams of Topsham and Kim Murray (Kevin) of Freeport; sister Judy Bourque (Lionel) of Brunswick; sister-in-law Elaine Sells of Brunswick; four grandchildren Brandi Campbell (James), Chris Murray , Sarah Hahn (Nicholas) and Bethany Williams; three great grandchildren Maggie, Lane and Carolyn and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased in death by her parents, brother Fred, brother-in law Roland Lagasse and sister-in-law Theresa MacKenzie.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at HillHouse Assisted living in Bath.
Arrangements are by Desmond Funeral Home in Bath, Me. Visitation will be Friday April 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the David E. Desmond Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 8th at 11 am at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.
