Carole Ann Hunnewell, Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, age 81 and a resident of Brunswick ME died peacefully on July 15, 2016, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and supportive staff.

Born in Bath ME Nov. 06, 1934 she grow up in Woolwich the youngest of three daughters born to J. Vinal and Geneva (Barter) Hunnewell and attended elementary and high school in Woolwich.

Carole worked about half her life in business and was the Credit Authorization Manager for Gimbals Department Stores headquartered in NY City. At about age 42 she decided to leave the business world to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.  She graduated in 1983 and went to work in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) of a few different Hospitals in the Philadelphia area. About 2003 she returned to Maine settling in Brunswick. She worked at Mid Coast Hospital working in the ICU until taking medical leave April 26th of this year to have surgery for the cancer.

Carole was an active member of the Farmingdale Seventh Day Adventist Church serving on the board, Personal and women’s Ministries. She was an active member of the International Red Hatters Group and served as the Quean of the Brunswick Scarlett Hatters. She also was very concerned about feral cats often trapping them and having them spade or neutered keeping some, returning some to the wiled or taking them to no kill shelters. She was a volunteer at HART Adoption Center & Shelter for Cats, a no-kill and all-volunteer Origination.

Carole was proceeded in death by her daughter Colleen Ann Henderson and both sisters, she is survived by her son James Vinal Hunnewell, and his wife Donna two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

At her request there will be a short grave side service at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler PA 19002 on July 28, 2016 at 10:00am.
