Brunswick - Louis Levesque, 88, of Brunswick, ME died peacefully the evening of Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME.

He was born in Brunswick, a son of Charles and Marguerite Schinck Levesque and attended St. John’s School in Brunswick.

On June 19, 1948, he married Rita H. Gamache.  Rita predeceased him on July 26, 1998.  They enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

During his working career, Louie, worked in construction and as a truck driver for Ronnie Atwood, Arthur Trusiani and John Davis as well as a truck driver for Hillcrest Chickens.  He worked in the Pejepscot Paper Mill grinder room, Leclerc’s Shell Station in Topsham, retiring in 1988 from Town of Brunswick Highway Dept. as a supervisor and a previous a plow driver.  During his retirement he did the maintenance at St. John’s Cemetery.

He served in the US Army in 1946 and 1947 in the Military Police.

He was a communicant of St. John’s Church and a member of the American Legion Post 202.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Rosaire Levesque and his three sisters, Yvonne Guay, Lucienne Bernier and Cecile Levesque.  He is survived by nieces Marie (Bruce) Williams of Kittery Point, Irene (Andrew) Seddon of Douglasville, GA and Ann (Robert) Dufresne of Manchester, NH and nephews Jimmy Levesque of Bowdoin, Paul (Lorraine) Guay, Maurice (Jeannette) Guay and Leo (Jackie) Guay all of Lewiston.  There are numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing Street, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 22,at 10:00AM at St John the Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the spring in St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made in Louie’s memory to Gosnell Memorial Hospice Hospital via Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One #1, Scarborough, ME 04074.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care provided for Louie through CHANS in Brunswick, New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
