I was doing some research online tonight and was looking up Starlite Diner to see if it was still around in Moscow. I was the purchasing manager for Quality Products International and worked with Shawn in Russia. I just came across the news of his passing as I was reading about Starlite. Please know how sorry I am for your family's loss. Prayers for peace to have found a place in your hearts.

I just learned about the death of your loved one. Death hurts the living, no matter what relationship you had with the deceased. We often have questions that go unanswered, such as; "What's happening to my loved one? " "Can I help them in any way?" "Can they hurt or help me or my family?" "Can I communicate with them?" "Where can I find answers to these & other questions?"
I have found that the Bible has satisfying answers to my questions.
For example, go to your copy of the Bible and read Ecclesiastes 9:4,5,10. Would you not agree that these scriptures tell us that: (1) That the dead are unconscious & can't help or hurt us.
For more Bible information & answers to your question(s): Go to www.jw.org. Scroll down to the bottom of the page & select 'ANSWERS TO BIBLE QUESTIONS'. SELECT the question(s) that you want a Bible answer to.

I read about the recent death of Shawn and I know Debra and the McKenna family and loved ones have saddened hearts today. So I wanted to share this beautiful scripture where our loving heavenly father, Jehovah, (Psalm 83:18), promises us that he is going to do away with man's greatest enemy, death. Rev. 21: 4; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Isaiah 33:24 guarantees us: "And no resident will say "I am sick," ever again. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises, including the resurrection. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection. (John 5:28, John 6:40, John 11:23-25) Also, Titus 1: 2 tells us this promise of a resurrection: "is based on a hope of the everlasting life that God, who cannot lie, promised long ago." Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live......And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever. For Jehovah himself has spoken it." For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. Jehovah invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. It is my prayer this scripture will give you comfort in your grief. To family and friends,

I am very sorry to hear of the death of your loved one.

When Jesus was on earth, his friend Lazarus died.
He was in the tomb for 4 days already when Jesus arrived.
Mary and Martha, Lazarus' sisters were grieving and Jesus gave way
to tears. Jesus compared death to sleep. He called to Lazarus and he
came back to life! You can read this wonderful true account in the Bible
at John chapter 11. Jesus demonstrated what he will do for mankind
when his kingdom government is ruling over all the earth. (Matthew 10:6)
Our dead loved ones will come back to life! (Acts 24:15)
At that time there will be no more pain or death (Revelation 21:3,4.)

Shawn burst brightly into my life and the lifestyle of most Moscow expats with the opening of the Beach Club and Uncle Guilly's and the Starlite Diner, concepts and ventures that would change for the better the social scene in Russia and create jobs and careers for hundreds of young Russians and restaurant professionals. I admired so much about Shawn. His entrepreneurial spirit. His innovative approach. His seemingly limitless energy. His gregarious and affectionate personality. His love of life. We will miss you Shawn. Your legacy will live for a very, very long time.

I am deeply, deeply sorry for your loss for Shawn was a wonderful man. I fondly first remember Shawn when he was a student in my College Writing Class. He was a bright, energetic, friendly young man with a great sense of humor and one of the most engaging students I have ever had. He loved to question and to argue but he also knew how to listen and concede other points of view. This gift would carry him far and has certainly contributed to his success. May he rest in peace.
