I am so sorry to read about the loss of Dr.Paul and I wanted to extend my condolences to your family. We are encouraged by the fact that God knows and feels our pain, He doesn't want us to experience this kind of grief as a loving Father to his children. We are encouraged to "throw our burdens on him and he will sustain us." (Psalm 55:22) Also, God promises a joyful tomorrow without death, mourning, pain, tears or sorrow in the near future. (Revelation 21:4) His Son Jesus promises a resurrection to life for our loved ones who have died. (John 5:28,29) No doubt they want us to gain life and live forever.

I first knew Paul, when we worked together on the "Kolpf kidney" at Oakland Naval Hospital. Later we were fellow scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory. After that we continued to be good friends and, with our families, met often over more than six decades. Paul was a serious and a provocative man, who thought long and deeply about the big questions in life. But he was also a warm, loving person with many interests, besides his distinguished career. I treasured my conversations with Paul, about work and play and life. I will miss him much. My sincere condolensces go to his wife, Nellie, and to his other family an friends.

I was the Executive Vice President of St. Mary's Hospital from 1979 to 1993 and had the privilege of working with Dr. Doolan and seeing him every day. He was the most ethical, talented, and committed individual I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I have thought of him often since the days we worked together and his work will leave a legacy that will last for a very long time.

My condolences to his wife and all his family. He was a remarkable human being.

Rest well my friend - your work is done and was done well

I was a Resident at St. Mary's from 1974-1977 and there I befriended Dr. Doolan.
Dr. Doolan was a scholar, a teacher and a compassionate and caring physician.
He had a love for sports especially boxing, for science and the arts and a special love for family.
I looked up to him as a role model. He has often been in my thoughts.
I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
My sincere condolences to his family.

to Family of Dr. Doolan
I was saddened to read of the death of Dr. Doolan. In the 1980's, my Mother-in-law was a dialysis patient at St Mary's Hospital for five years under his care. When she decided to give it up, Dr. Doolan was so compassionate and kind to her and to me, her main caregiver. From him I learned to accept the things I cannot change, and deal with the situation at hand in a realistic way, but with gratitude. I have drawn strength from that life lesson many times since then. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of this nice, caring gentleman.
