George Francis Wyman
March 21, 1931 ~ December 1, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years OldBrunswick – George F. Wyman, age 86, passed away December 1, 2017 at his home from Leukemia (AML). He was born March 21, 1931 in Bath, a son of Swanton Higgins and Margaret (Donahue) Wyman. He attended Small Point schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1950.
He joined the Army during the Korean Conflict and stayed in the Reserves. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Bath Post 0021.
He married Barbara MacPhee at St. Mary’s church in Bath on November 27, 1954.
He was employed at Pejepscot Paper Company in Topsham for 28 years. He was a Past President of the Sagadahoc rod & Gun Club and a Past board Member of the Brunswick Area Humane Society. He was a Life Member of the Bath Lodge of Elks.
George was a skeet shooter, tuna fisherman having won the 1983 Mackerel Tuna Tournament and enjoyed being aboard his tuna boats the “Barbara Ann” or the “Grey Ghost”. His greatest passion was duck hunting, sculling his gunning float in Merrymeeting, Middle and Atkins Bay. He and Barbara enjoyed their camp in Brighton Plantation which they helped build.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years and a brother, Gerald Wyman of Phippsburg.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Kathleen Wyman Robson of Woolwich, and Barbara Rose Wyman of Bath; brothers, Martin Wyman of Harpswell and Swanton Wyman, Jr. of Phippsburg.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Morningside Cemetery in Parker Head.
