My Dear Kathy and Janet,
I Do not Have to tell you how much I thought of your dad. One word to describe him "AMAZING"
I love listening to his words of wisdom, truly a smart, caring and humble person.
I had the pleasure of knowing him for more than 20 years.
You girls are lucky to call him dad, as he lucky to have 2 loving daughters.
I will miss him. I love him.

I met Hugh in 1962 when I came to Hopkins. The appreciation of his proactive personal assistance to acclimate and educate me remains until today. He consistently had a very contagious cheerful upbeat attitude. My girl friend, then fiancée, then wife, Jean and I thoroughly enjoyed the warm friendship of Hugh and Jane.

Dear Tom,
Thank you so much for your lovely message and kind thoughts. I do not know how to get in touch with you directly, but hope very much this reaches you. I miss my Dad so very much every day, but it is a great source of comfort to know how positively Dad and Mom affected the people in their lives and that they are so fondly remembered after so many years. Your message means so much, and I'm just sorry that I'm responding so late. It's been a difficult time, but I was very lucky to have such a wonderful Dad.

I am sorry about your dear Grandfather, and I hope that these promises from the Scriptures will comfort you in this difficult time. Jehovah God is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. And he will wipe away the tears from all faces. Psalm 34:18; Isaiah 25:8 NWT. Peace be with you.

I am the Mother (&n-law) to Angelo and Farrell Vangelopoulos , Owners of The Ivy Inn in Charlottesville. My husband & I enjoyed visiting over dinner with your Mother and Father. We felt like we had known them forever and felt embraced by their generous spirits. Our lives have been enriched by having known them.

Dear Janet and Katharine,
We are so sorry to hear about your dad. We were just thinking about him the other day. Not many people in this work I have loved and enjoyed more than your parents. They are truly some of the best people I have known! This world will miss them. But I do love the thought of the two of them on their island in the sky. Much love to you all.
Love,
Farrell & Angelo

Dear Kathy and Janet, I’m really sorry to hear about Hugh’s death….although I know he’ll be happy to get to see Jane again. I thought his health was declining since I no longer got any notes from him……and I thought about him whenever I went by the Colonnades, Whitehall Vineyard, or down Garth Rd. Your parents were very special people, very involved in each other….you could see that…..and centered around each other. Hugh was a lovely man, highly intellectual, and tons of fun with which to have long political discussions. His Charlottesville friends will miss him very much...... I hope you can celebrate his life and passing and be happy for his reunion with Jane..........with deepest sympathy, Nancy and Jim Maloy

Dear Janet and Katherine,
We are so sorry to hear of Red's passing. We enjoyed knowing him and Jane for the 20 odd years we have lived in Charlottesville. He was indeed a light to the world. May your memories give you comfort at this sad time. Our prayers are with you.

I am sorry to hear that your wonderful father has passed away. He was good company, and always had a little gleam in his eye. Kurt and I will be thinking of you, and of Hugh. We'll miss him at Janet's gatherings in Pownal. He had a good life.
